Numerous sites provide free credit reports for the customers. Multiple sites among them are also operated by the three credit bureaus; the Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union. However, together these bureaus also run web sites that jointly offer free reports. Other sites offer reports but charge for it as well. A customer can find the value added to their overall credit report that also includes credit card repayment history.
In addition it is necessary that the customer gets the correct credit report instead of something that contains fallacious reports. Usually a quality and genuine free credit report includes medical information for those who have applied for life, disability or long term health care policies. The report will contain the report from the Medical Information Bureau. It is an agency of around 600 companies that helps insurers to detect fraud and prevents the applicants from lying on the applications.

However the Government has mandated free credit reports for all customers. Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that consumers in United States are entitled to free credit reports every year. This also includes the low income groups using providian credit cards. It means that government wants the consumers to stay informed, get fair treatments and fight identity theft effectively.
Overall; free credit report is important because they provide raw data on the status of a customer’s credit. Previously everyone was not entitled for free reports and it was dependant on certain activities and the residents were periodically entitled to free credit.
The provision now has nationwide applicability.
